Always Wear Underwear to Church

Sundays are always a little busy around our house (obviously part of a preachers life). Well after church today things got especially hectic.
Jonathan was trying to pull a pair of pants out of his bottom drawer and actually popped his elbow out of place. Now let's just be completely honest and BARE all here. Jonathan split a hole in his pants and sis came over and whispered, "I don't think he's wearing underwear." So I of course called him over and addressed the issue. He was ordered off to his room after a discussion on the importance of underwear for just such an occasion as pants ripping. I was sitting wondering who at church saw the offensive hole when I heard a terrible scream from Jonathan's room. Apparently launched by the momentum of trying to pull his pants out of his drawer he toppled backward onto his arm and heard a loud pop.
After 20 minutes of ice and pain we were off to the ER. X-rays and time later showed that he has nurse maid's elbow (the cartlidge popped out of place which can only happen with a young child) which our fantastic doctor eased back into place. With a pop, Jonathan's grimace turned to grin and he was immediately able to bend and straighten his arm again. It was incredible. The doctor said its one of his favorites to do in the ER because it is so immediate and works so completely.
The worst part was having to hold his arm in a very painful position for x-rays. We all cried over that one (not to mention I smacked my head on the xray machine afterward). After that I promised ice cream. I tried to distract him by getting him to choose a type of blizzard, but he said, "I just can't think of that right now, just nothing with bananas." So we stopped for ice cream and amazingly made it to cantata practice in town. Then we sped back at exactly time for me to lead music for youth, had youth and I am now so glad to be home with my son in tact.
So what have we learned today........
ALWAYS WEAR UNDERWEAR TO CHURCH OR YOU MIGHT END UP IN THE ER!!!!!!!!!!!

Refreshing

My blog is under construction as I try to get a new background and top picture. I am lost on the background front. I will have to find a techno savvy buddy to help me with that part. I'm trying a few different pictures at the top, but I like this one...what do you think?

Superhero Day and Opposite Day

No, his head isn't on backwards - his clothes are!

Hair half up and half down and clothes on backwards and socks in her hair

Tiny Pumpkins - Happy Fall

Jonathan: I'm going to be a big brother in a few days
Me: Oh really? Where are you going to get a baby?
Jonathan: From your tummy
Me: God didn't put a baby in my tummy, sweetheart.
Jonathan: Oh just give him a few days. For now I will just be a big brother on Mondays and Wednesdays (referring to Cooper, the sweetie I keep two days a week.)

This first picture would be a sweet fall card.

I also have some precious Cooper pictures with the pumpkins, but I don't have permission to blog him. Maybe I can post of few awesome pictures of him on the photo blog soon. He is super photogenic!

Backpack Backpack

ck

Now that I have the backpack song from Dora in your head....I will get to my point. I promised to post Kaitlin's bag tag when I had the completed tag and I never did. Also, Kaitlin's teacher gave her permission to give up the drawstring which was very heavy and use her frog backpack that gives more support. I had so many comments wondering why they had to have those drawstring backpacks. Apparently they are space savers, but they are NOT back savers. This is the first year Kaitlin has had to tote real books, and a backpack with more support is just better! So here are some pictures of her original/current backpack with the tag:) It is just too perfect for the bag - even the colors are great:)

Please be in prayer for my sister and her husband's family. Early yesterday morning, William's father past away after a long struggle with cancer. They are in the whirlwind of funeral arrangements and grief. Since the actual burial place is in France, William along with his mother and brother have a long, difficult trip ahead. Hopefully my sister and Zelda will be able to come stay with us for a few days. I am so thankful for the chance to be with them - even under these circumstances.
Please remember them all as they travel and handle all that goes along with losing a parent, spouse and friend. He was deeply loved and will be missed immeasurably.

There are so many fun froggie things out there. I've been collecting little things leading up to Kaitlin's birthday, and I found this precious frog basket to put them all in. Her party is the day after her actual birthday, so I plan to fill this with candy and use it to hold down the balloons at the party.
The blue frog is wind up and has a candy filled tube under it. The green frog is a bubblegum bank. There are also frog pencils and frog notepads and stickers. A frog loving little girl's dream;)

You may be wondering why there is a giant high heel mobile on my blog! Well it is because I feel like such a HEEL that I will need one of these to get around. I MISSED Mandy's birthday and only just realized it today!!!!

Happy Birthday a few days late. I love you and I hope you have a terrific birthday month!

Short Update

Ok, so it is probably low blood pressure causing the blurry vision. It makes good sense. Also I may be having ocular migraines as a result of the miscarriage. In that case they should go away on their own in a few months when my hormone levels get back to normal. I had no idea that a miscarriage could affect so many things - especially one so early as mine was. However, it affects more than you might realize. Also if you need an eye specialist - the one that Dr. C referred me to was very good, so I can give you a referral.
Today Kaitlin and I will both have a pulmonary function test (like an asthma test).

School Picture Day

We almost forgot to put her glasses on when I was taking pictures this morning. At least we got a few with them on. Aren't they cute:) I love my kids!!!!

It isn't supposed to get above 87 degrees this week. HOOOORAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY! I adore fall! I am going to put Charlie Brown on. Charles will roll his eyes, but I love this time of year with old Charlie Brown in the background of cleaning house.

Today is the day I go to the opthamologist about the speck in my eye. Say a little prayer about that. Tomorrow K goes for her pulmonary function test and I report in about my chest pains and breathing problems. The reflux medicine has improved the chest pains, but it hasn't really helped the breathing problems. Asthma and acid reflux aggravate each other so it could be that I am just having problems with both. We'll see. We are waiting until November to do some more detailed thyroid blood work and to recheck cholesterol to see if we are getting any improvement there. I also have a giant hole that needs a crown, and I don't think I can put it off much longer. I'm starting to feel pain, and I am a wimp!

Internet Shopping is Dangerous

How cute are these rain boots that I found by accident;) (Just for the record - I am having restraint of all kinds here). And this gray dress would look so cute along side my gray dress (shown below). The large rhinestones are very Kait.

So here is what I'm thinking about for the Mr. and me in Christmas pictures. Put a big red necklace with the dress. J has a grey sweater with a red truck on it. Now for Kaitlin...

Frog Cake

So I thought.... what if I take a round cake and then cut a cupcake in half for frog eyes. Would it work? Well...stay tuned. The cake is in the oven, and we'll see what it looks like when I'm done.

Also, my kids were begging to mop, and guess what! I let them. Hey - it actually helped. I'm way impressed. Guess who has a new chore;) I'm so happy.

Pictures of cake disasters are surely to follow;)

edited to add: Well here is a speed version. I didn't want to deal with coloring icing (and everyone wanted chocolate) or making the pretty little decorated icing drops so I just smeared chocolate all over it and at K's request put green sprinkles and a red sprinkle mouth. I wonder how this one will turn out when it is decorated "properly." I think I like the shape well enough though. As I was making it I couldn't help but think how very simple this idea was and that Casie or Jessica or someone of the like would have whipped this idea up within seconds of Kaitlin's frog shaped cake request.

Grey and Red

So I'm thinking of wearing grey and red for Christmas pictures this year. Jonathan got a grey sweater with a red truck from my mom (found on clearance from last year) and that sort of sparked it. Charles and I have some grey (I need to borrow a big chunky red necklace maybe). So that just leaves K who might wear red. Then the lovely red umbrella to pull it all together. Ah, this is sounding lovely to me. The wheels are turning.
This may seem early to you, but we usually have pictures done by September so that we can start on cards and calendars for the year. October/November are too busy with the kids birthdays.

My favorite painting

I
This is my all time favorite painting. I know I've posted this many times, but Charles and I shared our first kiss in the POURING rain, and this painting just gives me the all over romancies. I would love to have a large framed print of this in our bedroom. Maybe I can snag some romantic pictures of me and my sweetie under the snowy umbrella. Mandy - I need you!!!!! Where is my photographer???

Powdered Sugar Snow

I would quite love to cover this red golf size umbrella with powdered sugar "snow" and have someone on a ladder sifting snow down over it for Christmas pictures. Look at my ever so sweet cooperative models who took a break from their adventures to pose here. This is our old golf umbrella, but I saw the powdered sugar, found this online and just had to see how it would work. If only I could coat the grass in white......
Don't the kids look cold;) The drama runs in their G-blood. Ha! ..... I wonder if I could find scarves for all of us.

Summer is Almost Over; Welcome Fall

Frog Lover

I'm working on some invitations for Kaitlin's Frog Party. What do you think of this picture for the invites:)
I'm also coming up with some Christmas picture ideas.

Monday Charles grilled and I made pumpkin pie. We also watched The Great Pumpkin for the first time this season. It was lovely.
Yesterday I took Kaitlin for her follow up appointment. She is doing very well. We are going for a pulmonary function test Tuesday to check for asthma. Jonathan was put on antibiotics b/c he has a cough similar to what Kaitlin started with. I am going next week sometime for an echocardiogram (sp?). I've been having chest pains and a few other problems and its just been a while since I had my last one. Better check things out - especially in light of the cholestrol issue.
After this everyone seriously needs to stay healthy for our pocket books sake.
