Always Wear Underwear to Church

Sundays are always a little busy around our house (obviously part of a preachers life). Well after church today things got especially hectic.
Jonathan was trying to pull a pair of pants out of his bottom drawer and actually popped his elbow out of place. Now let's just be completely honest and BARE all here. Jonathan split a hole in his pants and sis came over and whispered, "I don't think he's wearing underwear." So I of course called him over and addressed the issue. He was ordered off to his room after a discussion on the importance of underwear for just such an occasion as pants ripping. I was sitting wondering who at church saw the offensive hole when I heard a terrible scream from Jonathan's room. Apparently launched by the momentum of trying to pull his pants out of his drawer he toppled backward onto his arm and heard a loud pop.
After 20 minutes of ice and pain we were off to the ER. X-rays and time later showed that he has nurse maid's elbow (the cartlidge popped out of place which can only happen with a young child) which our fantastic doctor eased back into place. With a pop, Jonathan's grimace turned to grin and he was immediately able to bend and straighten his arm again. It was incredible. The doctor said its one of his favorites to do in the ER because it is so immediate and works so completely.
The worst part was having to hold his arm in a very painful position for x-rays. We all cried over that one (not to mention I smacked my head on the xray machine afterward). After that I promised ice cream. I tried to distract him by getting him to choose a type of blizzard, but he said, "I just can't think of that right now, just nothing with bananas." So we stopped for ice cream and amazingly made it to cantata practice in town. Then we sped back at exactly time for me to lead music for youth, had youth and I am now so glad to be home with my son in tact.
So what have we learned today........
ALWAYS WEAR UNDERWEAR TO CHURCH OR YOU MIGHT END UP IN THE ER!!!!!!!!!!!

Refreshing

My blog is under construction as I try to get a new background and top picture. I am lost on the background front. I will have to find a techno savvy buddy to help me with that part. I'm trying a few different pictures at the top, but I like this one...what do you think?

Superhero Day and Opposite Day

No, his head isn't on backwards - his clothes are!

Hair half up and half down and clothes on backwards and socks in her hair

Tiny Pumpkins - Happy Fall

Jonathan: I'm going to be a big brother in a few days
Me: Oh really? Where are you going to get a baby?
Jonathan: From your tummy
Me: God didn't put a baby in my tummy, sweetheart.
Jonathan: Oh just give him a few days. For now I will just be a big brother on Mondays and Wednesdays (referring to Cooper, the sweetie I keep two days a week.)

This first picture would be a sweet fall card.

I also have some precious Cooper pictures with the pumpkins, but I don't have permission to blog him. Maybe I can post of few awesome pictures of him on the photo blog soon. He is super photogenic!

Backpack Backpack

ck

Now that I have the backpack song from Dora in your head....I will get to my point. I promised to post Kaitlin's bag tag when I had the completed tag and I never did. Also, Kaitlin's teacher gave her permission to give up the drawstring which was very heavy and use her frog backpack that gives more support. I had so many comments wondering why they had to have those drawstring backpacks. Apparently they are space savers, but they are NOT back savers. This is the first year Kaitlin has had to tote real books, and a backpack with more support is just better! So here are some pictures of her original/current backpack with the tag:) It is just too perfect for the bag - even the colors are great:)

Please be in prayer for my sister and her husband's family. Early yesterday morning, William's father past away after a long struggle with cancer. They are in the whirlwind of funeral arrangements and grief. Since the actual burial place is in France, William along with his mother and brother have a long, difficult trip ahead. Hopefully my sister and Zelda will be able to come stay with us for a few days. I am so thankful for the chance to be with them - even under these circumstances.
Please remember them all as they travel and handle all that goes along with losing a parent, spouse and friend. He was deeply loved and will be missed immeasurably.

There are so many fun froggie things out there. I've been collecting little things leading up to Kaitlin's birthday, and I found this precious frog basket to put them all in. Her party is the day after her actual birthday, so I plan to fill this with candy and use it to hold down the balloons at the party.
The blue frog is wind up and has a candy filled tube under it. The green frog is a bubblegum bank. There are also frog pencils and frog notepads and stickers. A frog loving little girl's dream;)
